Lan Bi is a Patent Attorney at the firm Peterreins Schley. She was admitted as a European patent attorney in 2022 and as a UPC representative in 2023. Since 2015, she has been a qualified Chinese patent attorney.

Lan’s practice focuses on patent litigation and prosecution in the fields of telecommunications, information technology, electronics, and optical technologies. She has been involved in numerous patent disputes concerning mobile communications (e.g., LTE, 5G, and Wi-Fi), video and audio coding, and electronic devices. She has actively participated in patent infringement, nullity, and opposition proceedings before the German Federal Patent Court, the Federal Court of Justice, the European Patent Office, and the Unified Patent Court. In addition to patent litigation, Lan has also gained extensive experience in the drafting and prosecution of national and international (e.g., EP and PCT) patent applications, the conduct of freedom-to-operate (FTO) analyses, and the management of patent portfolios.

Lan was ranked as a “Rising Star” by Managing IP in 2024. Prior to joining Peterreins Schley, she gained valuable experience working at international and German law firms, as well as at a major telecommunications company in China.

Lan holds a Master of Engineering in Optical Engineering from Beihang University (BUAA), where her studies focused on signal processing and closed-loop control system design for optical sensors.

She also earned a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Intellectual Property and Competition Law from the Munich Intellectual Property Law Center (MIPLC), a joint program of the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition, the Technical University of Munich (TUM), University of Augsburg and the George Washington University Law School (Washington, D.C.). Additionally, she holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Control Technology and Instrument from East China Jiaotong University.
