Patent attorney Jérôme van Betteraaÿ works with Peterreins Schley. Jérôme began his legal training with the firm in 2021 and was admitted as a German and European patent attorney in 2024.
He is primarily involved in patent drafting and prosecution work before the European and German Patent Office. Jérôme also collaborates on oppositions and infringement matters and aids clients in growing and managing their patent portfolios. While advising clients in patent law, Jérôme focuses on creating the most effective custom solution to safeguard and utilize the client's intellectual property in accordance with their unique requirements.
At the Technical University of Munich, Jérôme van Betteraaÿ studied Chemical Engineering with a focus on biological process engineering, additive manufacturing, separation processes, and biomedical engineering. He carried out biomedical and additive manufacturing research in Ethiopia and Singapore as part of his master's program. "Particle separation in fluid media for additive multi-material manufacturing by laser powder bed fusion" was the topic of his master's thesis, which was completed at the Fraunhofer IGCV.
Alongside his master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Jérôme van Betteraaÿ completed a bachelor’s degree in business administration, and during high school education an apprenticeship as a chemical-technical assistant. Further, he has gathered industrial work experience in the field of biomedical engineering.
